Electrification

Electrification is one of the main tools for achieving energy transition and decarbonization objectives. The technical challenge of electrification is based on the implementation of technologies from renewable energy sources to replace current processes that cause GHG emissions, the development of efficient applications based on electrical processes and the achievement of an efficient, reliable and flexible distribution network (smart grid) based on distributed renewable generation nodes, storage nodes and efficient use.
Electrification reaches practically all sectors, including the main economic activities: mobility and transport, building, industry, etc. However, although electrification is being progressively implemented in some fields (electric vehicles), in others, major R&D efforts are still required (industry, electric airplanes, etc.).

The Electrification area focuses its activity on R&D&I of key technologies that enable the development of smart grids that will provide an optimal integration scenario for many of the key elements of the energy transition.
